This international Standard touches on the four phases of implementation of information technology cabling: design, specification, installation, and operation.  This Standard addresses the topics of quality assurance, specification of the installation, installation planning, installation practice, documentation, administration, testing, inspection, operation, maintenance and repair.  This Standard is relevant to information technology cabling installers, premises owners, architects, building designers, contractors, inspectors, public network providers, and end users.

ISO/IEC 14763-2 Edition 1.0: “Implementation and Operation of Customer Premises Cabling – Part 2: Planning and Installation” was developed by subcommittee 25: Interconnection of information technology equipment, of ISO/IEC joint technical committee 1: Information technology.  This Standard supersedes Clauses 11 and 12 of ISO/IEC 11801 (2002), and replaces ISO/IEC 14763-1 (1999) and its Amendment 1 (2004), ISO/IEC TR 14763-2 (2000), ISO/IEC 18010 (2002) and its Amendment 1 (2005).  ISO/IEC 14763-2 Edition 1.0 was published February 2012.
