This International Standard deals with the testing of optical fibre cabling.  The most substantial change in this document is the application of the parameters used to determine the two repeatable multimode launch conditions “modal power distribution” and “coupled power ratio”.  This standard also includes guidance on the proper use of uni-directional and bi-directional OTDR testing, the three jumperdefault test method, fibre end-face inspection and criteria for scratches, return lossvalues for SC and non-SC connectors, as wellas the normative use of reference connectors.

ISO/IEC 14763-3 Edition 1.1: “Implementation and Operation of Customer Premises Cabling – Part 3: Testing of Optical Fibre Cabling” was developed by subcommittee 25: Interconnection of information technology equipment, of ISO/IEC joint technical committee 1: Information technology.  This consolidated Standard consists of the 1st edition and its amendment 1.  The technical content is considered to be identical to the combination of the base document and amendment.  ISO/IEC 14763-3 Edition 1.1 was published February 2011.
