This international Standard, in conjunction with ISO/IEC 11801 Edition 2.2,  specifies both balanced copper and optical fibre cabling systems targeted for deployment in the data centre.  This Standard specifies a modified structure and configuration for generic cabling within data centres, as well as a reference implementation specific to data centre infrastructures.  This Standard provides data centre users with a flexible and generic cabling system that is easy to modify and capable of supporting a wide range of applications.

ISO/IEC 24764 Edition 1.0 “Information Technology – Generic Cabling Systems For Data Centres” was developed by subcommittee 25: Interconnection of information technology equipment, of ISO/IEC joint technical committee 1: Information technology.  This Standard is to be used in conjunction with ISO/IEC 11801 Edition 2.2.  ISO/IEC 24764 Edition 1.0 was published April 2010.
